Japan Needs a Superman

I would love to hear about what’s really happening in Japan right now. After the horrible earthquake and Tsunami, we watched for days in America, waiting to see how the Japanese would handle the threat of a Nuclear catastrophe. The thing is, everyone cheered on the Japanese in their efforts. There were comments on how well they were handling the disaster, the government stepping in quickly and helping those who could not find safety.

I love this video that I found on the internet! It’s an educational video for children, to teach them what is going on with the Nuclear Plant and what they have to be worried, or not worried about.

It’s probably the cutest video about a possible Nuclear disaster that I’ve ever seen.

It’s interesting to me that they’re telling all of their people and children that everything is going to be okay. News in the US has been foretelling a disaster in Japan that is so big, it even affects people living in America. This is disturbing to me, because if the Japanese government is telling its people that everything is going to be allright, then the media in the US should not be spreading fear to US citizens just to sell papers. I think this might be why Japanese news is quickly falling out of popularity.

I just want to hear the real story!

Apparently, there is no electricity in Japan and food and water are both scarce! Why aren’t we hearing about the needs of the people in Japan. We could help them, but I feel like the US government is wasting its resources away in other ways.

How can we help the Japanese???

Love and Other Drugs was not good.

I watched this movie Love and Other Drugs this week, and I’ve just got to say it was not so good!

Now I love me some Jake Gyllenhaal. He was pretty good in Brokeback Mountain I guess, but I really only want to stare at his body. Right, ladies? He’s like eye candy… not really the best actor in the world, but in this movie, he was just plain unlikeable. I went into the film thinking I was in for another two hours of boy meets girl blah blah blah, but what I got was girl meets douchebag BLAH BLAH BLAH.  His character was unmotivated, shallow, and kind of a jerk, so I was definitely confused when Anne Hathaway fell in love with him…

Now the movie got better when Anne came on screen, since she is a trained stage actress, and I thought she was super cute and charming. I also liked that her character had parkinsons, since not a lot of mainstream media focuses on characters with parkinsons and other such diseases, but I just couldn’t understand why she would want such an overconfident, self-involved asshole. I liked that her character only wanted him for sex at first – not the typical man-woman relationship that we see in the media – but that’s almost all I liked. I don’t like the way men are portrayed in the film, but maybe the director wants to change men who actually do act like Jake Gyllenhaal? I don’t know.

It was an alltogether confusing experience.

That’s all for now.

Why doesn’t anyone talk about North Korea anymore…..

So does anyone really know what’s happening in North Korea right now? Well I DOOOOO!!!

So I’m reading this book.

I only knew two things about North Korea whe I started reading this book:

1. They’re communists.
2. They want to develop nuclear technology. So that they can destroy us.

But after reading this book, my whole perspective on North Korea has changed. I think that everyone in the world should know what’s going on in their country, not only because we should all be aware of current world events, but also because people need to know that North Korea WANTS to build NUCLEAR BOMBS, and Kim Jong-Il WANTS to DESTROY THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Yeah. It’s pretty dramatic like that.

The thing about this book though, is that Barbara Demick is SUPER well informed (cuz she’s a damn good journalist), but she’s also a great writer. So you get the information, but it’s told through these beautiful true stories from people who have experienced North Korea first-hand.

I’m not gonna give the whole story away, but there are so many CRAZY things about North Korea that I didn’t know, like

  • North Korea has almost no electricity.

YEAH. It’s crazy. What does that mean? No internet. No television. No cellphones. Barely any hospitals. HOW MUCH SHIT DO WE NEED ELECTRICITY TO RUN???? A LOT.

I’m telling you people! Read this book! BUT, I do understand that this IS the US, and we DO have televisions, so if you don’t wanna read a book…

National Geographic: Inside North Korea

You can watch this documentary!!!!!!

It’s on Netflix Instant View FO FREE!

It might be a little biased if you ask me… but it has TONS of footage from someone who snuck into North Korea with an eye doctor who was doing emergency medical procedures in the country.

All right champs, that’s all for now.
